Color can be made up of and mixed from light or pigment. In the subtractive color palette, which is used when mixing pigments, the primary colors are red, yellow, and blue, which make brown when mixed in the same quantities. The additive color palette, which is used when mixing light such as on a computer screen, has the primary colors of red, green, and blue, which turn into white light when mixed. Secondary colors come from the mixing of two primary colors, such as red and yellow making orange. Tertiary colors are made when a primary color is combined with a secondary color, such as red and orange being mixed to make red-orange.
