Color Theory Notes Primary, secondary, and tertiary colors Subtractive (RYB, makes brown when mixed, pigment) and Additive (RGB, makes white when mixed, light) ROYGBIV—color spectrum Wavelengths have different spaces between their peaks.   It appears to us as different colors. Dark color perceived as receding, and light color is perceived as advancing — not always true I immediately thought of atmospheric perspective on mountains.   The further ones are lighter. Warm (red, yellow, orange) and cool colors (blue, green, purple) Purple doesn’t really exist on the spectrum.   Purple is invented when the rods and cones in our eyes can’t recognize the color. Print Process Model (CMYK) prints the colors in dots that our eye blends together into one color. Design elements are the basic units of a visual image.  Principles are the rules that help the design makes sense.  All visual art can be broken down into elements and analyzed. The difference between art and design is that art is made for the artist to solicit an emotional response in the viewer.  Design is about communication.  It bears a strong message to the audience. Design Elements: --Space 2d or 3d illusion of depth negative space --Line variable thickness, texture, direction you can make a line w/ negative space --Color color palette... be deliberate --Shape organic, geometric, abstract good design...recognizable by profile --Texture implied texture you can use adobe illustrator brushes use layers dirt real life texture such as for business cards --Value light and dark qualities of work...contrast creates depth to create an object and not just a shape --Balance symmetry asymmetry making it look right balance by concept...light...

The rosehips and character were drawn on paper and I took a photo of them, selected them in photoshop, and arranged them on the background.  I made a few different versions of this with the blur tool. Postcard from another dimension. Another drawing.  I made it black and white and edited saturation/brightness/contrast to try to blend the drawing in better but it still looks kind of off.
